Gertrude K. Tonjum, age 71, of Faribault, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault, with the Very Rev. James Zotalis, Dean of the Cathedral, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

Gertrude Kathleen, was born on May 20, 1942 in Faribault to Glenn and Lucille (Williams) Ennis. She was raised and attended schools in Faribault. Gert married Richard Tonjum Sr. on August 20, 1960 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. They had six children and were later divorced. Gert was a homemaker for her family, worked 16 years has a Human Services Technician at the Faribault Regional Center, and worked various food services positions. She took great pride in her 28 years of sobriety, was a longtime member of AA, and former member of the Faribault Eagles Auxiliary. Gert enjoyed cooking, camping, and time with her family.

She is survived by five children, Richard (Mary) Tonjum Jr. of Faribault, James (Amy) Tonjum of Rochester, Pamela (Russ) Mullenberg of Faribault, Timothy (Katie) Tonjum of Faribault, and Randall Tonjum of Winona; grandchildren, Nicole, Dana, Angela, David, Taylor, Teagan, Nicholas, Grant, Nate, Rochelle, Brianna, and Kayla; great grandchildren, Zavier, Madden, and Aubrey; brothers, Stan Ennis of Owatonna, Jerry (Ann) Ennis of Cottage Grove, Wilson (Nila) Ennis of Worthington, Robert Ennis of Peoria, AZ, and Albert Ennis of Faribault; sisters, Lorraine Hinds of Faribault, Mavis (Dwayne) Chambers of Hastings, and Daryth (Donald) Seabold of Maplewood; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald Tonjum; and brothers, Earl and

LeRoy Ennis.
