Gertrude "Gert" (Mrs. Alvin) Brandt, age 89, of Faribault, died peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Funeral services will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Gertrude Aurelia Kelsey, the daughter of Allen and Sarah (Barnett) Kelsey, was born on August 20, 1922 in Faribault. On August 25, 1942, Gert was united in marriage to Alvin Brandt in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He later preceded her in death on March 10, 1995. For most of her life, Gert was a homemaker but did enjoy helping out at Don Breyer''s hatchery and also at Abel''s Broiler, both in Faribault. She enjoyed going on walks, embroidering and baking tasty treats. She is survived by her children, Virginia (Bob) Hreha of St. Louis Park, James (JoAnn) Brandt of Arizona, Gerald (Judy) Brandt of Naperville, IL and Patricia "Pat" Lasley of Minneapolis; her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; her siblings, George Kelsey of Garrison, MN, Walter (Viola) Kelsey of Faribault, Vernon (Janet) Kelsey of St. Paul and Agatha Kelsey of Faribault; by her sister''s in law, Dorothy Kelsey of Mt. Angels, OR and Joyce Kelsey of Fargo, ND and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her five brothers Ray, Robert, Roy, Allen and Clarence Kelsey, her sister Leatrice Pike, her son in law Thomas Lasley and by her grandson Michael Brandt.
