Francis 'Frank' McHugo June 3, 1936 - May 25, 2015

Francis "Frank" McHugo, age 78, of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Catholic School or Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Francis.

Francis Ambrose, the son of Ambrose and Mary (Jorgansen) McHugo, was born on June 3, 1936 in Waterville, MN. Francis was raised on a farm in Kenyon, MN and his family would later move to Faribault. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1954. After high school, Francis served in the U.S. Navy. During his service time he was united in marriage to Lois MacQueston on August 21, 1955 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Malden, MA. While in the Navy they lived in Charleston, NC and Boston, MA. After his discharge in 1957 they moved back to Faribault and Francis worked at Fleckenstein Brewery for over 3 years. They would then move to Moorhead, MN and Francis worked at Moorhead State University until 1967 when they moved back to Faribault and Francis began a 34 year career with the State of Minnesota at the Faribault Regional Center as the Chief Engineer of the Power Plant. Lois preceded him in death on May 1, 2001. On July 2, 2006 Francis married Marion Chavie Round at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Francis was an active member of the Faribault Rifle and Pistol Club and won many awards as a competitive shooter. He also was a firearm safety instructor for many years. Francis also enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Marion McHugo of Faribault; by 12 children, Mary Lee McHugo of Faribault, Patty (Don) Ackmann of Savage, MN, Katie (Jon) Speckhals of Faribault, Tina (Lynn) Miller of Waseca, MN, Barb McHugo of St. Paul, MN, JoAnn (Rick) Jones of Faribault, Steven (Carol) McHugo of Faribault, Jane (Don) Zoubek of Andover, MN, Sue (Don) Pask of Savage, MN, Peggy (Daniel) Totato of Osseo, MN, Mike (Jean) McHugo of Grand Forks, MN and Thomas and (Janelle) McHugo of Byron, MN; by 33 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; by his brother Larry McHugo of Faribault, MN; by four step children, Terry (Steve) Johnson of Kenyon, MN, Tony (Denise) Mensing of Faribault, Cathy (Gregg) Bauer of Faribault and Cec (Tom) Seykora of Faribault; by 14 step grandchildren and 24 step great grandchildren and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, brother Steven and a sister in infancy and by two step children, Tammy Madow and Tom Mensing.
