Emma Skluzacek, age 85, of Faribault, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Faribault Commons Nursing Home in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ The King Catholic Church in Medford, with Fr. Edward McGrath, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Edward''s Cemetery in Richland Township, Rice County, MN. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Emma Nerud, the daughter of Jacob "Jake" and Rose (Pivec) Nerud, was born on July 27, 1927 in Greenvale Township, Dakota County, MN. She was raised in Greenvale Township and attended country school. Emma was united in marriage to Daniel P. Skluzacek on June 3, 1947 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Hazelwood. She worked as a housekeeper in the Minneapolis area for a short period of time. Emma assisted her husband in their farming operation for many years in Richland Township. She also worked for several years at Randy''s Meats. Emma enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562 Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was also involved in many volunteer capacities at Christ the King Church. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Daniel P. Skluzacek of Faribault; three children, Daniel F. (Linda) Skluzacek of Faribault and their daughters, Jamie (Nathan) Kilwine and children, Jase and Jaylin, and Danielle Skluzacek; Jean (Lowell) Van Westen of Plymouth and their son, Nathan (Susan) Van Westen; and Gary (Eileen) Skluzacek of Faribault and their two children, Melissa (Greg) Blandin and children, Cavan and Rylee, and Derek (Tammy) Skluzacek and son, Henry; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Joe, and Tom Nerud; and sisters, Ann Leslie and Sister Mary Jacob. Memorials may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church in memory of Emma.
