Elizabeth "Beth" Jane Markus

August 4, 1923 — December 15, 2020

ELIZABETH “BETH” JANE MARKUS, age 97, of St. Paul formerly of Waseca, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Cerenity Senior Care in St. Paul.

Born on August 4, 1923 in St. Paul to Nicolas and Cecelia Lillian (Bradley) Thommes. Beth was baptized as an infant at St. Columbia Catholic Church and confirmed in her youth at St. Agnes Catholic Church, both in St. Paul. She attended Catholic School first at St. Columbia and St. Agnes in St. Paul later graduating from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato with the class of 1940. On April 30, 1949, Beth was united in marriage to Richard Markus at St. Columbus Catholic Church in St. Paul. Beth was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She will be dearly missed.

Beth is survived by her children: Marietta (William) Shorter or Petoskey, MI, Thomas (Debra) Markus of Birmingham, MI, Jeanne (Rol) Menge of Ellsworth, WI, Catherine Markus of St. Paul, Nancey (John) Aamot of Overland Park, KS, and Barbara Markus of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; many more friends and family.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 year, Richard; parents; daughter in infancy, Caroline; son, Matthew; siblings: Marianne and Richard.

Memorial Mass will be held on a later date. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
