Edward 'Ed' Braun May 10, 1919 - January 19, 2014

Edward "Ed" Braun, age 94, of Mankato and formerly of Pemberton, died peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County, with Reverend Giles Zimmer, officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, Ed''s family requests memorials be designated to Mayo Health Systems- Hospice, Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donors choice.

Edward Robert, the son of Robert and Helena (Schoenfeld) Braun, was born on May 10, 1919 in Smiths Mill, Waseca County, Minnesota. He attended Pemberton High School and graduated with the class of 1936. On December 10, 1960, Ed was united in marriage to Vivian Hubbard at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. They resided on Ed''s family farm for many years and in 1980, rented the farm land. Ed then began working at the Mankato Rehabilitation Center (MRCI) and eventually retired in 1994. They continued to live on the farm until health problems forced them to move into Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Outside of farming and working, Ed was a dedicated member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he held various positions on the church board and also was a longtime choir member. Ed also enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian of Mankato; his sister, Gladys Dagan of Eagle Lake; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawrence Braun; and by his sisters,

Elaine Een, Viola Witt, and Lucille McMahon.
