EARLE ROBERT TAYLOR, age 94 of Elysian, died on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Janesville Nursing Home. 
Born on April 28, 1925 in Elysian, Minnesota, he was the son of Franklin and Florence (Swain) Taylor.  As a young man he attended Waterville-Elysian Schools before finishing school in the Janesville GED program.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and following his honorable discharge he returned to Elysian.  He married Betty Jane Seifert on May 21, 1949 at the Elysian United Methodist Church.  He owned and operated a Coast to Coast store in Janesville for two years then began farming with his father and brothers.  Along with farming, in 1969 he began working as a parts runner at Matejceks Implement in Faribault and he also worked for his brother Ron at Elysian Auto.  He enjoyed restoring old tractors, talking smart, and drinking coffee.  He was a member of the Elysian Methodist Church where he served in many capacities over the years.  He had also served on the Waterville-Elysian School board, was also a board member at the Le Sueur County Historical Society, and was a 72 year member of the Elysian American Legion.
He is survived by six children, Robert (Marsha) Taylor of Medford, Richard (Jeanette) Taylor of Elysian, Charles (Lisa) Taylor of Waterville, Lori (Bruce) Smith of Waterville, Lynette (Phillip) Spurgin of Rosemount, and James (Becky) Taylor of Waterville; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one cousin; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers; and two sisters. 
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4-7 PM at Dennis Funeral &
Cremation Services in Waterville and continue one hour prior to the service at
the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waterville, with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
