Dorothy G. Witt, age 88 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services at church. Dorothy Gladys was born on June 27, 1923 in rural Janesville, Waseca County, Minnesota to Emil and Anna (Berndt) Erdman. She was baptized on July 15, 1923 and confirmed on March 21, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Dorothy graduated from Janesville High School in 1941. She was united in marriage on May 6, 1944 to Elmer L. Witt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Dorothy and Elmer lived and farmed in Alton Township their entire married life. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville and was a member of the Trinity Seniors. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, playing cards and loved her dog Marty. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandson Adam. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Jean (Glenn) Kessler of Belle Plaine, and Lu Ann Witt of rural Janesville; by her grandson Adam Witt of Waseca; by her brothers, Leonard Erdman and Harlan (Ardis) Erdman, all of Janesville, and Eldon (Ruth) Stavenau of Elysian; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Elmer on January 9, 1998 and by her brother Orville.
