Dorothy Lorraine Bittner

Dorothy L. Bittner, age 95, of Elysian died September 7, 2018, at BridgeWater in Janesville.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Larry Griffin and Rev. Paul Muther officiating. Interment will follow in the Janesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 6 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Churchs Discipling Center in Janesville and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Churchs Discipling Center.
Dorothey Lorraine was born on September 19, 1922 in Waseca. She was the daughter of John and Margaret (Borchert) Manthey. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her Lutheran faith in her youth all at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. She attended rural schools and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1939.
On November 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Alvin William Bittner at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City. They farmed for five years near Pemberton, and for six years near Eagle Lake. Since 1952, Dorothy and Alvin farmed northwest of Elysian in Elysian Township, LeSueur County. They shared 67 years of marriage before Alvin passed away in 2008.
She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. In Dorothys spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles. She always looked forward to watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and High School Tournaments with her good friend, Marlin Fitzner. Dorothy especially cherished the time spent with friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by her niece, Judy (Doug) LaPitz of Waldorf; nephew, Larry Bittner of Montana; and a bunch of loving cousins. Also surviving are her constant companions: Max and Freckles.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin, parents, sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Eileen and Wilmar Bittner.
