Doris J. Adams, age 78 of Waldorf, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at her home in Freedom Township.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 25th 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf with Fr. Robert Schneider, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph''s Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services. There will be a 7:00 P.M. Parish Rosary Friday evening at church. McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca is handling arrangements.

Doris Jane Edwards VerHey Adams was born March 8, 1935 in Hollandale, Minnesota to Albert and Eva (Aartsen) Edwards. She attended and graduated in 1953 from Albert Lea High School. Doris married Donald VerHey, and they had one son, Scott. On December 27, 1991 she married James B. Adams at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf. Doris returned to school and in 1992, she received her LPN license. She did private duty nursing in the Waldorf area for many years. Doris loved to make floral arrangements, do crafts, and shop! She enjoyed beautiful clothes and jewelry, and made sure she and "her Jimmy" were always well dressed. Doris was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf.

She is survived by her husband, James; son, Scott (Connie) VerHey of Shakopee, and granddaughter, Preslee; brother, Don (Rosalie) Adams of Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Mary (Robert) Meurer of Mankato, Evelyn (Russell) DeVine of Watertown, SD, Vernell Adams of Watertown, SD, and Corrine Edwards of Hollandale; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her devoted little Terrier, Buttons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and other extended family.

The family would like to thank Fr. Klein and the wonderful people of St. Joseph''s Parish, the caring community of Waldorf, friends and neighbors, the dedicated personnel of the Mankato East Hospice Team & the Homestead Hospice Team, especially Melissa, Karen, Jackie, Deb and Barbara for their loving care.

Casketbearers are: Don Adams, Bob Meurer, Terry Traynor, Tom Traynor, Dennis Rossell, and Jerry Stencel.

Honorary Casketbearers are: George Doyle and Donny McCoy.
