Donna Jane Orne, age 78 of Faribault, died, Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Homestead Hospice in Owatonna, following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to services. The Rosary will be recited on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Donna Jane Orne, the daughter of Louis and Nina (Towne) Orne, was born on July 14, 1931 in Faribault. Jane attended Bethlehem Academy and graduated with the class of 1949. Following high school, Jane attended nursing school and was certified as a LPN. She worked as a nurse''s aide at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN for a short time and then moved with some of her friends to Chicago, IL and found work as a Dental Assistant. Later Jane moved to Sacramento, CA and worked in retail sales at a Jewelry Store until she moved back to Faribault. Jane found a nursing position at the Faribault Regional Center and worked there for 25 years until her retirement. Jane was involved in different organizations including Faribault Area Hospice with Respite Services, was a long time member of the Parks and Recreation Association and enjoyed water aerobics with her friends at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed bird watching at her home on Shields Lake. Special thanks to Annie and David Naas, Chef and Souschef who made Friday and Saturday meals wonderful along with the choppers, slicers, mixers and fryers; to Peter, Paul and Polly who were great traveling companions, I couldn''t have traveled without you. To the swimmers at the Faribault Community Center, thanks for your companionship and I will miss you. To Vivian, Marion and the class of 1949 at Bethlehem Academy, thanks for hanging together and keeping in touch all these years it was a pleasure seeing you. To Marge Sowa, the best apple pie baker, and Mark, and all my Shieldsville friends, it has been wonderful. To Herb the steak bone eater - enjoy and to the neighborhood helpers, thank you all!!
