Donald (Don) Kalbow, age 86, of Waseca, died peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca, following an extended illness.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of The Sacred Heart in Waseca, with Father Gregory Leif, officiating. Private interment will be held at the St. Ann Cemetery in Janesville.

Memorial visitation will be held at the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday morning. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Parish Prayer service at the funeral home on Thursday evening.

Donald Dorton, the son of Elmer and Gertrude (Kollman) Kalbow, was born on January 8, 1927, in Mankato. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school and also some schooling in Mankato prior to enlisting in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Don returned home and was united in marriage to Edna Mae Denn at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. They had one son, Jeff. She later died suddenly in 1951 from Polio. On November 15, 1969, Don was united in marriage to Lorraine Helen Bauleke at the Church of The Sacred Heart in Waseca.

Don began working for a contractor in Madison Lake for many years before going into business with Marlyn Denn. They enjoyed building many homes both locally and throughout southern Minnesota. Don enjoyed hunting with the crew up north, going to the casino to play bingo with Lorraine, traveling, and wouldn''t miss his daily "happy hour" with the boys at 4 p.m.

Don is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Waseca; his son, Jeff (Annie) Kalbow of Waseca; his stepson, Linden (Toni) Bauleke of Waseca; his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Heidi (Allen) Anderson, Joshua Kalbow, Jedidah (Jackie) Kalbow, Talitha Kalbow, Megan (Zach) Morris, Katie Morris, Chris (Natalie) Bauleke, Jason (Chelsea) O''Brien, Brandon

(Jenny) Bauleke, Brooke (Nick) Kuchenbecker, Bridgette (Ryan) Peterson, and Kevin Bauleke; his twenty three great grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Lorentz of Mankato and Joy (Bob) Huber of St. Clair; and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Mae Kalbow; his brother, Jerry Kalbow; and by his sister, Gaye Nielsen.
