Dennis Lyman March 6, 1941 - September 25, 2011

Dennis M. Lyman, age 70, of Faribault, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with the Rev. Henry Doyle, officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory and for one hour prior to services on Thursday. Dennis Michael Lyman, the son of Keith and Florence (Denison) Lyman, was born on March 6, 1941 in Faribault. He attended the Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1960. Following high school, Dennis attended the Faribault VoTech and later graduated with a degree in Carpentry. In 1962, Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Army and later received honorable discharge in 1967. Dennis began working at Nutting Truck and Caster until it later closed. As a lifelong truck driver he then started hauling grain and most recently was working for Wausau Trucking. He enjoyed building and fixing things for family and friends, camping, reading western books, learning about history, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post 43 in Faribault, where he served as commander in 1992. He was honored to show his love for his country by flying the American Flag, serving in the Army and also by being in the American Legion Color Guard. He is survived by his lifelong companion, Audrey Bjorklund of Faribault; his children, Amanda Bjorklund of Minneapolis and Adam Bjorklund of Faribault; his grandson, Cordero Michael Smith; his siblings, Cindy (Bob) Reim and Tim (Dar) Lyman, both of Faribault and by many nieces, nephews and other family and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jon and Kenneth (in infancy), his son Brian and by his nephew Tracy Lyman.
