Dennis "Denny" Hughes, age 61, of Faribault, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Faribault Care Center following an extended illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault. Private family interment will be held at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Dennis Vincent Hughes, the son of Francis M. and Geraldine (Fait) Hughes Sr. was born on July 8, 1950. Following his education, Denny entered into the United States Army on January 21, 1970 and was later granted an honorable discharge. On March 16, 1974, Denny was united in marriage to Marianne Sharon Norberg in Dundas, Minnesota. They were later divorced. Over the years, Denny worked security at various places including St. Olaf, Sheldahl, and the energy plant in Faribault until his health problems forced him to retire in 2009. Dennis is survived by his son, Ryan (Jamie) Hughes and their son Gavin of Inver Grove Heights; his siblings, Terrence (Caryl) Hughes of Faribault, Michael (Kelly) Hughes of Faribault, Mary Kay Kuchinka of Northfield and Joanne (Richard) Confield of Iron River, WI and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Peter & Francis (Franny) Jr and by his brother in law, Donald Kuchinka.
