DANIEL R. LYKKEN, age 54 formerly of Waseca, passed away on October 6, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Daniel was born July 18, 1963 in Moorhead, MN, to Richard and LaVonne (Engels) Lykken.  Daniel graduated from Waseca High School in 1981. After high school, he served 4 years in the United State Army as a Military Police Officer. He was stationed in Hawaii but included deployments to South Korea.  After his honorable discharge, he served 7 years active duty as a member of the Army National Guard, as a Sr. Systems Programmer, serving in Nebraska and Minnesota. After his honorable discharge with the Army National Guard, he worked various IT Support positions in Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, Colorado, Minnesota and Connecticut. For the last 10 years, he has called St. Cloud, MN his home.

Daniel was awarded Soldier of the Year for the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1990 while serving as the Sr. Systems Programmer.

Daniel was married to Tammy Christopherson in 1995 and later divorced in 1999. He spent the last 10 years with his best friend and life companion, Rose.

He enjoyed wrestling from Jr. High through High School and was part of the Waseca State Wrestling Team. He also enjoyed DECA, roller skating, disco dancing, computer programming/gaming and loved all animals.

He was preceded in death by his mother, LaVonne, along with several grandparents, aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his father, Richard and step mother, Marilyn of Waseca; his sisters, Lorrie (Brad) Kohl, of Harlan, IA, Kathy Bruhn, of Burnsville, Trish (Kevin) Kirchberg of St. Michael and Tammy (Todd) Zimmerman of Waseca. He has extended family of many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his life companion and best friend, Rose Winger, of St. Cloud along with his daughter, Payton Demay Lykken of Washington State.

A visitation will be held at the Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2-4 PM.
