Daniel "Dan" Hanlon, age 63, of Faribault, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault, with the Rev. Erik Lundgren, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Divine Mercy Catholic Church in memory of Dan Daniel Ambrose Hanlon, the son of John and Catherine (Gilday) Hanlon, was born on November 14, 1948 in Faribault. He attended the Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1967. Following high school, Dan began his apprenticeship and later became licensed as steam fitter with the State of Minnesota. Throughout the years, Dan''s career led him to work on many big projects including the Mayo Clinic and St. Mary''s Hospital, IBM, the Becker Power Plant and the Minneapolis/St.Paul Airport. He enjoyed his vehicles, especially his Mercedes Benz convertible and his fire engine red truck, traveling and fishing trips to Canada. Dan was a lifelong member of the Local Union 6 Steamfitters in Rochester and Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. He is survived by his siblings, Pat Mulligan of Faribault, Kathleen Hanlon of Kansas City, KS, Michael J. (Jan) Hanlon of Faribault, Tim (Carla) Hanlon of Melborn, Thomas Hanlon of Eagan, Patrick (Debra) Hanlon of Hot Springs, AR and Ronald Hanlon of San Francisco, CA and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John "Jack" Redmond and James Joseph Hanlon.
