Curtis D. Walther, age 83, of Janesville, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Janesville Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Reverend Dr. Larry Griffin and Pastor Paul Muther officiating. Private family interment will be held at the Janesville Cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday morning.

The family prefers that in lieu of flowers, honorary contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.

He was married to June Rose Walther June 14th 1951 (passed away) Trinity Lutheran Church Janesville, MN, he was remarried to Darlene (Ristau) Walther December 27, 1996 (passed away) Trinity Lutheran Church Janesville, MN.

Curtis attended and graduated from Janesville Lutheran Grade School, and Janesville High School where as a student, he excelled academically and participated in many extracurricular activities including student council, band, sports, and drama. As a young man, he helped operate the Janesville Star Theater with his parents.

Curtis started in the Army as a Military Policeman at Ft. Leonardwood, MO, and retired from the Army as a 1st Sgt. with the Supply and Transportation Company, Mankato. He co-owned and operated several small businesses (including Janesville Appliance repair shop, Our Own hardware store, and the V-store) in Janesville. He was a lifelong active member of Trinity Lutheran Church Janesville. He worked for Southern Minnesota Supply Company of Mankato for several years, and then worked for Northland electric supply company of Mankato for several years, where he retired from. He was also a retired

Janesville Volunteer Fireman, American Legionnaire, and a member of several local clubs including the Sportsman''s club. He enjoyed many activities including playing cards, golfing, as well as playing dart ball, horseshoes, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He especially enjoyed chewing the fat - serious discussion for resolution of world issues with the guys at the local bakery over coffee and donuts.

He is survived by 4 children; Richard Walther (wife Lori) of Albert Lea, MN, Scott Walther (wife Victoria) of Louisville, KY, Carol Gerber (husband Robert) of Glen Rock, WY, and Brian Walther. 6 grandchildren: Benjamin Walther, Emily Sabath, Lilia Walther, Jessica Gerber, Nicholas Walther, and Tess Gerber, as well as 5 great grandchildren (Anthony Walther, Isabella Sabath, Jackson Sabath Jr., Isabella Nicole Decker, and Stanley James Romero Walther).

Predeceased by: Sully Walther(Father), Matilda Walther(Mother), Vernon Walther (Brother), June Walther (1st wife) , Darlene Ristau-Walther (2nd wife). to services at the church on Monday morning.
