Caroline 'Kari' Skagerberg December 4, 1933 - October 31, 2013

Caroline "Kari" Skagerberg, age 79, of Waseca, died peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at her home following an extended illness.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. David H. Baumgarn, officiating. Private family interment will be held at the Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca.

Caroline Jean, the daughter of Carl and Hilda (Fischer) Froemming, was born on December 4, 1933 in West Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and also attended Hutchinson High School. Following graduation, Kari attended St. Cloud State and received her teaching license. On June 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Skagerberg in Hutchinson.

Kari began her teaching career in Benson and Lake Lillian areas prior to moving to Spring Valley. While living there, Kari was active in many community events and was a major part of opening the public library. After their family grew, she continued to enjoy her involvement in the community and also being a homemaker. They later moved to Waseca in 1970 and Paul began working as a Principle for the Waseca Public School System. He later preceded her in death on September 15, 2001.

Kari enjoyed playing many different card games, working on crossword puzzles, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would be best remembered as, "Don''t grieve for me. I lived a long life with few regrets. I was happy, and I always enjoyed my family and friends."

She is survived by her children, Kari (Damon) Haslip of Waseca and Rich (Tuyet) Skagerberg of New Richland; her six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; her siblings, Mabel Boelter of Hutchinson and Ellie (Robert) McGihon of Kirkland, WA, and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; her grandson, Joel "JoJo" Warzynski Haslip; and by her brother-in-law, Al Boelter.
