Carlyle 'Lyle' Roehrich May 30, 1926 - June 24, 2015

Carlyle "Lyle" Roehrich, age 89, of Faribault, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault with the Very Reverend Justin Chapman, Dean of the Cathedral officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30-10:15 a.m.

Carlyle William, the son of Adam and Ruby (Oswald) Roehrich, was born on May 30, 1926 in Faribault. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1944. During his senior year of high school, Carlyle enlisted in the U.S. Army and after graduating from school he began his service with the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his pilots training in the Army Air Corps, Lyle became an avid aviator who owned and flew his own planes for many years along with his brother Dick. After his honorable discharge he returned to Faribault and on July 11, 1948 was united in marriage to Elizabeth Meister in Austin, MN. Lyle worked for 40 years at Northern States Power as a Lineman Trouble Shooter. In retirement Lyle and Elizabeth would spend their winters in Apache Junction, AZ at the Denali Park. Lyle enjoyed golfing and he also spent many hours working on the sand golf course located at Denali Park. Because of his dedication, the golf course is named after him. Lyle also enjoyed gardening, hunting and building and flying model airplanes. Elizabeth preceded him in death on April 6, 2009. Lyle was a kind and gentle man who touched the hearts of many people through his love and kindness.

He will be loved and missed by his children, Carla (Bill) Laws of Mesa, AZ and Jeff (Carmia) Roehrich of Rapid City, SD; by 6 grandchildren, Todd Young, Jim Young, Chad

Young, Jennifer Steele, Sasha Roehrich and Jared Roehrich; by 10 great grandchildren, Maya, Leah, Zoe, Lila, Ethan, Catlyn, Courtney, Carlyle, Dean and Josie; by his brother, Richard (Donna) Roehrich of Eau Claire, WI and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, William Roehrich in 2012, by his brother, Dale Roehrich and by his sister, Cheryl Kilima.
