Alfred A. Risto, age 84 of the Alma City & Pemberton Area, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8th at 12:00 Noon at St. John''s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Keith Bilitz, officiating.

The Risto Family will greet friends on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the hour or service, at church. McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca his handling arrangements.

Alfred Albert was born September 28, 1928 in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Albert and Emma (Krienke) Risto. Alfred was baptized October 21, 1928 and confirmed April 18, 1943, at St. John''s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City. Alfred attended Pemberton Schools. In April of 1951 he entered military service in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his military duty he was united in marriage to Anita Gahler on December 21, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County. Following his honorable discharge in April of 1953, he returned home. Alfred and Anita farmed and raised their family in Freedom Township, Waseca County. They had continued to reside on the farm until just last year when Alfred entered the Janesville Nursing Home. Alfred was a good fix it man'', and great welder. He and Anita enjoyed their many travels throughout the U.S. and the world. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and swimming. He most enjoyed time spent visiting with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Anita of Waseca; children, Barbara (David) and Denn of Waseca, Bruce and Doreen Risto of Pemberton, and Debra and Dan Roemhildt of Janesville; grandchildren, Chanda (Denn) and Chris Tanaka, Aimee (Denn) and Grant Sibilrud, Adam and Amber Denn, Nathan and Julie Risto, Eric and Sara Risto, Brian and Mariah Roemhildt, Gregg Roemhildt, and Lisa Roemhildt; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Buker of Waseca.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ralph Alan Risto; granddaughter, Laura Roemhildt; brother-in-law, Gerald Buker.

Honorary bearers are Alfred''s grandchildren.
