Aleen (Turner) Briggs Starks December 17, 1919 - March 9, 2013

Aleen (Turner) Briggs Starks, age 93, of Medford, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Louise Bender, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Aleen Minnie Turner, the daughter of Myron Sr. and Martha (Wagner) Turner, was born on December 17, 1919 in Medford. She graduated from Medford High School in 1937 and Minnesota School of Business in 1938. Aleen worked at the Chevrolet Garage in Owatonna. She was married to Gene Briggs in 1941. After Gene was discharged from the Navy they resided in several locations, primarily in Blooming Prairie and Medford. Gene preceded her in death in 1962. Aleen continued working in secretarial positions with the Productive Credit Association in Blooming Prairie from 1963-1969, and Jostens in Owatonna from 1970 until her retirement in 1985. She had married Wayne Starks in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Aleen was a lifelong member of the Medford Congregational UCC and a faithful member of the Womens Fellowship at church. She also was a member of the Eastern Star in Blooming Prairie. Aleen and Gene were avid square dancers, and she enjoyed playing cards, baking and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Parrish of Owatonna; grandson, Eric Parrish of Worthington; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Turner of Medford; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; and two brothers, Ernest Turner and Myron Turner Jr.

Memorials may be directed to the Medford Congregational UCC, American Bible Society, or the Samaritan Purse in memory of Aleen.
