Luella Wiebe

LUELLA WIEBE, age 93 of Waseca, formerly of Delft, MN died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Colony Court in Waseca.

 

Born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on December 7, 1914, she was the daughter of Adam and Mollie (Schmiess) Feil. Luella was raised in a Christian home in Delft, MN where her parents owned the town hardware store.  She attended Mountain Lake Christian Day School, Mountain Lake High School, and Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS.  Luella married Menno Wiebe on December 3, 1936 at the Carson Church near Delft.  Together they farmed near Delft until their retirement.  Luella was actively involved in church ministries and the Gideon's.  She and her husband had a heart for missions and church planting and devoted much of their life to that ministry.  They started their marriage being charter board members of Stoney Point Bible Camp in Lake Crystal, now Camp Victory of Rochester, MN.

 

Luella had a gift of hospitality, opening her home to missionaries and pastors around the world.  She enjoyed reading, gardening and quilting.  Luella had been a member of Carson Mennonite Brethren Church-Delft, Mountain Lake Community Bible Church, and Christ Community Church in Waseca.

 

She is survived by three children, Ron (Jerry) Wiebe of San Jose, CA, Jerry (Linda) Wiebe of Green Valley, AZ, and Dorothy (Ron) Anderly of Waseca; six grandchildren, Scott of San Jose, CA, Julie of Santa Cruz, CA, Mike of Portland, OR, Krissa of Eagan, Matt of Rapid City, SD, and Nemili of Chicago, IL; and 8 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, Dr. Larry (Jetta) Feil of Aurora, CO; sisters-in-law, Pat Feil of White Bear Lake, June Wiebe of Rapid City, SD; and one aunt, Linda Wiens of Mountain Lake.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister-Matilda Ewert, and brother-Henry Feil.  

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Christ Community Church in Waseca with Pastor Chris Johnson and Pastor Howard Lundeen officiating.  Burial will follow at Delft Cemetery at 3:00 PM. 

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 5-8 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.

 

The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful loving care Luella received during her time at Colony Court in Waseca.

 

Memorials are preferred to Camp Victory in Rochester.
