STELLA LUELLA WHITING, age 88 of Waterville died on Monday, February 7, 2011 at The Plum House in Morristown where she had been under hospice care since November 2010.

Born on September 28, 1922 in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota she was the daughter of Emil and Ella (Quast) Kanne.  She attended school in Odessa, MN.  Stella married Alden "Al" Whiting on September 24, 1949 in Waterville and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2001.  Stella spent most of her life working as a homemaker.  She enjoyed flower gardening and animals - especially cats and dogs.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Larry) Walburn of Waterville; two grandchildren, Gary (Tammy) Walburn of Morristown and Christina Walburn and special friend Joel Mendel of Walnut Creek, CA; and the caring staff of The Plum House and Faribault Area Hospice.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister-Delilia Benjamin.

Private family services are being held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville.  Burial will be at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
