Archie E. Taxdahl

ARCHIE E. TAXDAHL, age 85 of Prior Lake, Minnesota (formerly of Waseca), died peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2011 surrounded by his family at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.

 

Born on June 15, 1925 in Hannaford, North Dakota he was the son of Arndt and Ella (Johnson) Taxdahl.  He attended school in Hannaford and later in Northfield, Minnesota.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the south Pacific as an electrician’s mate and ships barber from Jan. 7, 1944-Nov. 1, 1946.  Following his honorable discharge he graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis in 1951.  Archie married Maxine Mueller September 1, 1951.  In 1952 he started his own State Farm Insurance business in Waseca which he operated for thirty five years, retiring in 1987.  His hobbies include traveling in his motor home, spending winters in Arizona, camping, cars, golfing, playing cards, visiting with people, tinkering & fixing things.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca and had served as church president and treasurer. 

 

His friendly, gregarious personality and warm smile touched many throughout his life and will be missed by all.

 

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Prior Lake; four children, Janet Jezior of Stillwater and her children Zandra and Mara, Joyce (Tom) Hansen of Eden Prairie and their children Alex, Nate and Katie, Jeff (Wenda) Taxdahl of Jordan and their children Jacob and Olivia, Jon (Diane) Taxdahl of Prior lake and their children Benjamin, Ellie and Jack.  He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Roger Haug officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  Memorials are preferred to Minnesota Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
