LuVern "Bud" Sunde

LuVERN “BUD” SUNDE, age 83 of Waseca died on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Born on January 2, 1927 in New Richland Township, Waseca County, Minnesota he was the son of Justin and Thora (Haug) Sunde. Bud graduated from New Richland High School in 1944. He served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1946 until 1948. Following his honorable discharge, Bud returned home and farmed with his parents in New Richland Township. He married Marlys Nelson on October 14, 1950 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He later worked for the grain elevator in Clarks Grove for a short time before moving to Waseca. He attended Mankato Commercial College and graduated with a degree in accounting. Bud was employed as head accountant at Brown Printing Co. in Waseca for 29 years. He enjoyed watching the MN sports teams, fishing, playing cards, traveling, sitting outside and people watching, and following his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion and VFW all of Waseca as well as the Brown Printing Co. Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys of Waseca; three children, Lynn Gostomczik and Frank Duenes of Janesville, Gail Orcutt of Eagle Lake, and Reid and Theresa Sunde of Waseca; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Marilynn Nelson of Minnetonka. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law, Patrick Orcutt.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 4-7 PM and continue on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Dan Doering officiating. Burial will follow at Le Sueur River Cemetery in rural New Richland. |
