James Schumacher

 

James H. Schumacher, age 71 of Springfield Missouri, died Tuesday July 5, 2011 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

 

Born in Marshall, Minnesota on July 31, 1939, James was the son of Joseph and Lola (Bosacker) Schumacher.  As a young man he attended school in Waseca and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957.  Jim spent his entire career in executive positions in the children’s shoe business, first working for Vaisey-Bristol Shoe Company, later known as Jumping-Jacks Shoes (a division of United States Shoe Corporation), then Reebok International in Boston as the CEO of Weebok Division.  He then came back to Jumping-Jacks Shoes (a division of Munro & Company) as CEO of the children’s division.  Finally, James came out of retirement into a consulting position with Nina Kids.  He retired again in 2007.   Jim loved his family and friends, boating, fishing, golf, hunting, sporting clays, motor sport racing, and his dog, Gus.

 

Jim is survived by his wife, Millie Schumacher of Springfield, MO; three sons, Larry (Casey) Schumacher of Springfield IL, Dan (Janie) Schumacher of Springfield, MO, and Tom (Jo Marie) Schumacher of Springfield, MO; three stepchildren, Ann (David) Saunders of Monett, MO, Susan (Doug) Childress of Monett, MO, and Elizabeth (Heath) Dawson of Springfield, MO.  He is also survived by his mother, Lola Schumacher of Waseca; one brother, Charles Schumacher of Waseca; and two sisters, Nancy (Craig) Burnham of De Pere, WI, Audrey (Joe) Guion of Johnson City, TN.  Jim was blessed with eight grandchildren, Matt, Nick, Nate, Mark, Abby, Hannah, Kaitlyn, and Stephanie Schumacher; and nine step-grandchildren, David II, Lauren, Ryan, and John Saunders, Nicholas, Michael, and Sarah Childress, Maximus Dawson, and Alicia May.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith; his father, Joseph Schumacher, Sr; one brother, Joseph Schumacher, Jr; and five infant children.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Rev. Marty Schaefer officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
