Roger E. Schroeder

ROGER SCHROEDER, age 82 of Waterville died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

 

Born on June 23, 1929 in Owatonna, Minnesota he was the son of Elmer and Helen (Malakowsky) Schroeder.  He attended school in Owatonna before serving with the Army Air Force from 1947 until 1949.  He later served with the Army during Korea from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1952.  Roger married Jeanette “Pat” Anderson on June 28, 1953 in Austin.  He was employed with Jostens in Owatonna for 27 years and also WSI in Owatonna. He later worked for Hostetter’s Jewelry in Omaha, NE.  Roger enjoyed making birdhouses, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.  He also enjoyed RVing, old-time and country music and crossword puzzles.  He was a life member of VFW Post 1642 and a member of American Legion Post 228 of Waseca.

 

He is survived by his wife, Pat of Waterville; five sons, Mike (Lori) Schroeder of Webster, Dan Schroeder of Waterville, Peter (Gina) Schroeder of Monterey, CA, Doug Schroeder of Faribault, and Tom Schroeder of Waterville; three grandchildren, Chris (Chrissie) Schroeder, Nicole Schroeder and Peter Dentice; and four great grandchildren, Trinity Schroeder, Alayna Schroeder, Mason Schroeder, and Bryant Norsten.  He is also survived by one sister, Dorothea Neumann of New Richland; one brother, Glenn Schroeder of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Elaine Sobrack, Gladys Hagen, and Margie Johnson; and one brother, David Schroeder.

 

Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 4-6 PM and continue on Wednesday, one hour before services at the funeral home.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville with Pastor Ron Brey officiating.  Burial will follow at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
