ELLEN JANE SCHOSTAG, age 86 of Waterville died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center. Born in Mankato, Minnesota on May 21, 1921, she was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Coughlin) Anderson. She attended school in Mankato, graduating in 1939. Ellen married Albert Schostag Jr. on April 19, 1941 in Mankato. In 1957, she and her family moved to Arizona where they lived for ten years. Later, they lived in Missouri before returning to Minnesota in 1979. Ellen enjoyed playing cards, volunteering at the nursing home, and having coffee with her Potential Unlimited partner. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville and the Trinity Women’s Society, Waterville VFW Auxiliary and the Waterville Senior Center. She was a loving, caring mother to her three children, and remained whole-heartedly devoted to her husband after his passing in 1987. She is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Bill) Ashlin of Des Moines, IA; two sons, Bob (Audrey) Schostag of Waterville and Neil (Shirley) Schostag of Faribault; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Frances Depuydt of St. Clair; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one grandson, Kevin Ashlin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 from 4-7 PM at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville, and will continue on Wednesday for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. David Mumme officiating. A private family burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
