JOHN F. ROSS SR., age 84 of Elysian, died on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Central Health Care in Le Center. 

Born on October 24, 1924 in Waseca he was the son of Fred & Frances Ross.  He attended school in Cleveland and later entered the U.S. Army serving from 1944-1948.  He married Lydia Weber on Dec. 2, 1948 in Germany.  Following his discharge, he worked on the family farm for three years and then worked construction for three years.  Following those jobs he had a thirty-two year career with Hubbard Mill Company in Mankato, retiring in 1984.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elysian and American Legion Post 311 in Elysian. 

He is survived by one son, John (Diane) Ross of Elysian; two grandchildren, Kirk (Lisa) Ross of Lakeville and Christine (Stephen) Paton of Woodbury; five great grandchildren; one sister, Carmela Vance of Florida; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Gene Ross.

Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 4-8 PM and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elysian with Rev. Michael Ince officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
