Lester H. Quitney

 

LESTER H. QUITNEY, age 92 of Waseca, died on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born April 16, 1918 in Iosco Township, Minnesota, Lester was the son of Martin and Martha (Fretham) Quitney.  He attended District #10 school in rural Waseca County.  He later served in the United States Army during World War II.  Following his time in the service, Lester worked at Williams Packing House in Albert Lea, the Bird’s Eye division of General Foods in Waseca, the Owatonna Canning Factory, and also helped his brother on the farm until his retirement in 1995.  Lester enjoyed keeping up on current events via the newspaper and television.  He was a member of the Waseca Senior Citizen’s Center and the North Waseca Lutheran Church.

Lester is survived by two brothers, Richard (Connie) Quitney of Mason City, IA, and Clifford (Sondra) Quitney of Mason City, IA; three sisters, Mildred Fish of Ramsey, Norma Jackson of Waseca, and Barbara (John) Connelly of Litchfield; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Adeline Tollefson and Gladys Mork; and one brother, Vernon Quitney.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at North Waseca Lutheran Church with Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at North Waseca Lutheran Cemetery.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements.
