Harry L. Quast

HARRY L. QUAST, age 91 of Waseca, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Waseca Medical Center.

 

Born in Waterville, Minnesota on January 17, 1918, Harry was the son of Adolph and Amalia (Geisler) Quast.  He graduated from Waterville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945.  Harry married Ruth Staple Day in Waterville on April 24, 1949.  He farmed for many years and also worked at Birdseye Division of General Food in Waseca for 27 years.  Following the death of his first wife, Harry married Edith Derr in Big Stone, SD in 1990.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling and was a member of the VFW.

 

Harry is survived by three step children, Joan (Charlie) Sebers of Margate, FL, Lowell (Berene) Day of Yunderup, West Australia, George (Janet) Day of Cushing, MN; six grandchildren-Rick Davis, Steve Davis, Gary Day, Tim Day, Dan Day, Nancy Day; two great grandsons-Lochlin and Nathan; one nephew, Don (Marlys) Krueger of Waterville; and one niece, Eleanore Storjohann of Janesville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one step-daughter-Virginia Bock, three brothers-Edwin, Walter, and George; two sisters-Esther Krueger and Ella Connie.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca.  Interment will follow at Lake Gorman Cemetery-Cordova in Le Sueur County.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
