Lester Priebe

LESTER H. H. PRIEBE, age 90 of Waseca, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

 

Born at his family’s farm in Otisco Township on September 17, 1921, Lester was the son of Ben and Hilda (Buker) Priebe.  He attended school at District 22 located on the corner of the farm.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Otisco.  On February 17, 1944 he married Doris Paul of Laurel, Iowa also at St. Peter’s Lutheran.  He spent his entire life doing what he loved – working with horses and dairy cows, farming, and helping neighbors.  Lester served as Otisco Township Supervisor for 14 years before moving to Waseca in August of 1993.  He and Doris moved to Realife Cooperative in May of 2008.  In retirement he kept his touch on agriculture by helping area farmers with their fieldwork until ill health forced him to “retire again”.

 

Lester is survived by his wife, Doris of Waseca; and two daughters, Betty (Homer) Knutsen of Volga, SD, and Linda (Jim) Baker of Rochester, MN.  He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Marjorie) Priebe of Waseca; and foster sister, Justine Swanson also of Waseca.  His grandchildren include Michael (Sammi) Knutsen of Mooringsport, LA, Erich Czok of Rochester, MN, Jennifer (Mike) Brown of Canyon, TX, Ryan Czok of Janesville, WI, and Steve Czok of Lexington, KY.  His great-granddaughters, Marleigh and Maddy Brown live in Canyon, TX.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Luverne; another brother, Norman “Bud” Priebe and his wife, Mabel; and great-granddaughter Mason Signe Brown.

 

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, and will continue on Saturday for one hour before the service at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Richland, with Rev. Scott Williams officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a recipient of the donor’s choice.
