Doris L. Priebe

DORIS LOUISE (PAUL) PRIEBE, age 91 of Waseca died on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

 

Born on the family farm near Laurel, Iowa on February 12, 1920, Doris was the daughter of Ira and Minnie (Deppe) Paul.  She was a member of the Laurel Methodist Church.  Doris graduated from Laurel Consolidated School on May 18, 1937 where she was a fierce competitor on the girl’s basketball team.  She worked at various places and came to Minnesota to help her grandmother where she met a farm boy named Lester Priebe.  They were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Otisco on February 17, 1944 when the church was still in the country.  They then resided at the Priebe Family Farm.  Doris spent most of her married life being a helpmate on the family farm.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Otisco, WELCA, and had taught Sunday School for over 20 years.  She was also a leader in the Community Winners 4-H Club.  She and Lester held a farm auction in 1993 and moved to Waseca.  They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1994.  They moved to Realife Cooperative in 2008.

 

Doris is survived by her daughters, Betty (Homer) Knutsen of Volga, SD and Linda (Jim) Baker of Rochester.  Her grandchildren include, Michael (Sammi) Knutsen of Mooringsport, LA, Erich Czok of Rochester, Jennifer (Mike) Brown of Canyon, TX, Ryan Czok of Janesville, WI, and Steve Czok of Lexington, KY; and great granddaughters, Marleigh and Maddy Brown of Canyon, TX.  She is also survived by her brother, Don (Kathleen) Paul of Haverhill, IA and brothers-in-law, James Lyle of Haverhill, IA and Richard (Marjorie) Priebe of Waseca along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Arlene Lyle and Kathryn (and husband Ray) Coulter, great granddaughter Mason Signe Brown, and brother-in-law, Norman Priebe and his wife Mabel.

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 3-7 PM and continue on Sunday, one hour before services at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Richland on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
