RICK DAVID PRAHL, age 52 of rural Janesville, died on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in Waseca.
Rick was born on October 3, 1956 in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Meyers) Prahl of Waterville. He graduated from Waterville-Elysian High School in 1975. While in school, he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He also played for the Waterville Indians Baseball Team. Rick graduated from Gustavus Adolphus in 1979. He worked at Kamp Dels in Waterville, Midwest Electric and Carlson Craft in Mankato and currently was employed with Itron in Waseca.
Rick was united in marriage to Nanci Danberry on February 14, 1992 in Mankato. He made his home in rural Janesville. Rick had the love for the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and especially his dream of building his log home where he paid special attention to the landscaping of his home. He enjoyed working in his yard to beautify his log home. He also enjoyed taking his two children to northern Minnesota to spend weekends at his brother’s cabin. He was the treasurer of the Deer Hunters Association and taught many deer and bear seminars for the Advanced Hunter Education Program. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild.
He is survived by his wife, Nanci; two children, Dakotah and Cheyenne; two step-children, Brandi Goettl and Kyle Goettl; and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Prahl of Waterville; one brother, Rod Prahl of Champlin, two sisters, Rhonda (Fred) Hrdlicka of Pella, IA and Roxanne (Jeremy) Bibeau of Coon Rapids; special friends Gordon and Dolly Rye; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 4-8 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.
Memorials are preferred to the Rick Prahl Memorial Fund c/o Valley Bank in Waterville which has been set up to assist with his children’s education.
