LEONE M. POEHLER, age 92 of Waterville died on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.
Born on October 29, 1917 in Riceville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ted and Laura (Gundlach) Christensen. She attended school in rural Iowa as well as Waterville Public Schools. Leone married Fred J. Poehler on April 13, 1936 in Waterville. She worked as an operator for Central Telephone Co. and was a Stanley Home Product distributor. She also worked as a waitress for Sammy’s Steakhouse in Faribault and delivered newspapers for the Waseca County News. Leone owned and operated the Lazy Lane Lodge and Resort on Webb Lake in Hackensack for 30 years. She was also a State Fire Warden for 25 years.
Leone enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and being in the woods. She also enjoyed knitting and was an avid bowler having bowled in numerous state tournaments and received many awards. Leone had been secretary for the Webb Lake Association. She also served as president of the Band Mother’s for the Waterville school where she enjoyed making floats for the homecoming parades.
She is survived by three children, Francis (Janet) Poehler of Sun City, AZ, Karon Domonoske of Waterville and Jack Poehler of Waterville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Christopher Poehler, son-in-law, Warren Domonoske, daughter-in-law, Noreen Poehler, nephew, Bob Dellwo, one sister, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville with Rev. Michael Ince officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
