CAROL R. PETZEL, age 69 of Alma City died on Monday, July 19, 2010 at her home.

Born on July 20, 1940 in Waseca, Minnesota she was the daughter of Reuben and Lillian (Wilkowske) Metzler.  Carol graduated from Waldorf-Pemberton High School in 1958.  She married Melvin Petzel on August 6, 1960 in Mason City, Iowa.  Carol had worked at Walter’s Cookbooks in Waseca and later Brown Printing Co. before retiring.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with family and friends.  Carol was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City and the VFW Auxiliary in Waseca.

Carol is survived by her significant other, Harlan Bjornson of Alma City; three children, Vickie (Scott) Shifflett of Redding, CA, Ron (Karen) Petzel of Plainfield, IL, and Sue (Tom) Bambenek of Winona; 12 grandchildren; and three nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter-Cindy Lueck, one son-Randy, one granddaughter-Amanda, and one brother-Duane.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 4-7 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating.  Burial will follow at the Alma City Cemetery.
