EVELYN G. PETERSON, age 90 of Waseca, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the New Richland Care Center. Born in Waseca County on June 25, 1919, Evelyn was the eldest of four children born to Alvin and Gertrude (Frisk) Lewer. She attended school in Waseca, and following graduation, attended college at the Mankato State Teachers College. Evelyn then worked as a stenographer for the state legislature during the Stassen administration for two years. On May 13, 1943 she was united in marriage to Raymond Peterson at Vista Covenant Church in Waseca County. In addition to being very active on the family farm, she worked as a secretary at Gallagher’s Law office in Waseca, at the Otisco Creamery, and as a secretary for Kraft Foods. She was a long-time member of Vista Covenant Church where she had been active with women’s groups, Sunday school, the choir, and other activities. An important priority for Evelyn was visiting friends and family members. She loved flower, vegetable, and fruit gardening, yard work, being outdoors, crafting quilts and rugs, and giving away her crafts and vegetables. Evelyn is survived by four children, Daniel (Samiha) Peterson of Northfield, Marlene (Bill) Bregar of Pueblo, CO, Craig (Kim) Peterson of North Mankato, and Jimmy Peterson of Owatonna; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Don (Beth) Lewer of Houston, TX, and Vera (Richard) Randall of Springville, NY; and one aunt, Ruth Frisk of New Richland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Ivadell Krause. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Vista Covenant Church in Waseca County, with Rev. Steve Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Vista Covenant Cemetery. |
