BERNIECE I. PATTEN, age 95 of Waseca died on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Born on January 15, 1915 in Waseca, Minnesota she was the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Harguth) Larson. Berniece attended rural School District #11 in Iosco Township and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1932. Following her schooling she worked at Wolf & Habein, the Waseca Canning Co. and as a waitress and domestic for various families in the Waseca area. She married Clare Patten on September 6, 1939 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Berniece enjoyed crossword puzzles, flower gardening, playing cards, bird watching, coloring, fishing and spending time up north. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Berniece is survived by one son, Eugene (Rose) Patten of Bena and five step-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ann Cooper of Waseca; special friends, Michelle and Nicole Ingram of Waseca; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-Sharon Patten, two brothers-John & George Larson, and three sisters-Florence Sotebeer, Helen Winge, and Mildred Harris.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour before services at the church. Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals of Waseca is handling arrangements. |
