Mildred "Millie" Nelson

MILDRED E. “MILLIE” NELSON, age 86 of Madison Lake passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Born in Winnebago County, Iowa on July 21, 1921, Millie was the daughter of George and Amanda (Sletten) Hovland. She attended and graduated from Scarville High School in Scarville, IA. On December 22, 1966, Millie married Everett Nelson. Millie enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, sewing, and needlework. Millie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Janesville, and will be truly missed as a woman who was strong willed and affectionate with a wonderful sense of humor.
She will be forever loved, remembered, and deeply missed by her husband Everett Nelson; and her children Gary (Randi) Thompson of Spencer, WI; Marlene (Loren) Fritz of Mound, MN; Julie Knauss of Rochester, MN; Gloria (Bob) Klinger of Bemidji, MN, and Larry (Jo Anne) Thompson of Winnipeg, Canada. Also surviving Millie are step-children Dean (Barbara) Nelson of Madison, WI; Shirley Berg of Waseca, MN; and Linda (Chuck) Huebl of Waseca, MN; twenty three grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren and one sister, Carma Flugum of Lake Mills, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hilma Olien and Clarine Moe; one granddaughter Sherri Fritz; and one son-in-law Keith Knauss.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Oaklawn Health Care Center for the wonderful care that Millie received. A special thank you to Debbie Williams of Elysian, Minnesota for many years of care and support.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 4-8 PM, and will continue for one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Janesville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Peter Milloy officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. |
