Lyle P. Nelemans

LYLE PETER NELEMANS, age 93 of Waseca died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.

 

Born in Sully, Iowa on June 19, 1913, he was the son of Benjamin and Kate (VanderMeer) Nelemans. He attended school in Sully, Iowa and married Reka Byl on May 25, 1938 in Waseca.  Lyle worked for Eric Sjostrand for eight years doing construction work before beginning his own business in 1946.  In 1969, Lyle began building Wausau Homes.  Over the years, Lyle built several hundred homes in the Waseca and surrounding areas.   He enjoyed music, traveling, and gardening and was a Master Gardener.  He was especially proud of his Dutch heritage, having made two trips to Holland.  He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca and the IOOF.

 

He is survived by his wife, Reka of Waseca; three children, Helen Carlson of Eden Prairie, Vernita (Bruce) Wiesner of New Ulm, and Paul (Dawn) Nelemans of Waseca; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters, Nina Youngberg and Anna (Vic) Swenson all of Waseca.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Henry Nelemans; brother-in-law, Glenn Youngberg; and son-in-law, John Carlson.  

 

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 4-8 PM and continue on Saturday one hour before services at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Neil Westby officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
