PAUL CHARLES MERTINS, age 66 of Waterville died on Monday, June 20, 2011 at his residence in Waterville.

Born on April 23, 1945 in Faribault, Minnesota he was the son of Paul and Doris (Lamont) Mertins.  He graduated from Waterville High School in 1964.  Paul lived the majority of his life in Waterville.  He married Cathy Rockstead on July 13, 1974 in Hastings and together they had three daughters.  He loved driving truck, hunting, fishing, camping and most of all he loved being with his family.  Paul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy of Waterville; three daughters, Paula and Eric Kankelfitz of Milaca, Samantha Mertins and Nick Schirmers of Eagan, and Andrea and Patrick Thomas of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Aidan and Garrett and another grandchild due in October.   He is also survived by siblings, Marie and Todd Holling, Jim Mertins and his friend Jena, Dean and Julie Mertins, and Eileen and Keith Delaske; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-Warren, one sister-Jean Anne, and one grandson-Alexander.

Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 4-8 PM and continue on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. David Mumme officiating.  Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
