ELSIE ELAINE MATZ, age 75 of Waseca, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.

Born in Cordova Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota on December 23, 1932, she was the daughter of Sherman and Orsie (Stuart) Preble. She graduated from McKinley High School in Le Center in 1951.  Elsie married Clifford Matz on February 4, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.  Elsie worked at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca for many years before retiring in 1989.  She enjoyed listening to old church music, collecting dolls, reading, working with the elderly, and making quilts. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

She is survived by six children, James (Carol) Matz of Byron, Dawn Matz of North Mankato, Donald (Jeannine) Matz of Altoona, IA, David Matz of Berkley, CA, Robert Matz of Columbia, SC, and Gary (Katie) Matz of Apple Valley; and five grandchildren, Lori and Sara Matz of Rochester, Joshua Graupmann of North Mankato, and Olivia and Steven Matz of Altoona, IA.  She is also survived by three sisters, Vernelia Jobe of Endeavor, WI, Edith Lange of Medford, WI, and Lorraine (Merval) Leischer of Union Grove, WI; and one sister-in-law, Maxine Preble of Montgomery.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1980, three brothers, and two sisters.  

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 4-8 PM with a 6:30 PM parish prayer service and continue on Monday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Rev. David Matz officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca County.
