RICHARD L. LEE, age 81 of Waterville, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 while spending the winter in Weslaco, Texas. Born in Sterling, Alabama on July 22, 1926, Richard was the son of Richard N. and Flossie (Baker) Lee. As a child Richard was orphaned, and he grew up in the Troy Baptist Children’s Home. In 1944, Richard began serving in the United States Army, and he later served for the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1951. On June 29, 1961, he was united in marriage to Nancy Kaiser in Mason City, Iowa. Richard made his career as a union sheet metal worker, and later as a school bus driver. He and his wife renewed their wedding vows on their 25th anniversary, and have enjoyed traveling to Weslaco, TX for the last fifteen years. Richard enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, John Wayne movies, the Minnesota Twins, and sitting around the campfire with friends and family. He was a member of the Morristown American Legion, and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Waterville; one son, Michael (Cricket) Lee of Waterville; two daughters, Jaqueline (Bruce) Krongard of Vadnais Heights, MN, and Linda (Patrick) Goebel of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Johnnie Baker of Columbia, SC; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Paunell; and one son, Richard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, with Rev. Michael Ince officiating. Visitation will directly precede the service for one hour at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville is assisting the family with arrangements. |
