Gordon W. Larson

GORDON W. LARSON, age 85 of Waterville, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

 

Born on May 30, 1922 in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, he was the son of Laurence and May (Stene) Larson.  He attended school in the New London and Willmar areas.  Gordon joined the US Army in 1942 and served in the 56th Armored Infantry Battalion of the 12th Armored Division in the European Theater until his discharge in 1945.  He married Geraldine Bartle on March 4, 1946 in Waterville.  Gordon had a Eagle home insulation business until 1958 when he began Larson’s Soft Water Inc. which he owned and operated for 30 years.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville and the Knights of Columbus where he was past Grand Knight.  He was also an active member of the Waterville VFW where he served as commander in 1965, 1966 and 1977, the Waterville Sportsman’s Club, and the Country Club in Kenyon.  He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing and bowling.  Gordon always had a quick wit and kind word for everyone.  Always a kind and loving husband and father, we know Gordon is now with God and His angels.

 

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Waterville; one daughter Juilee (Tom) Short of Elysian; three grandchildren, Christopher (Kimi) Short, Kyle Gordon Short, and Jennifer (Kyle) Friesen; and one great granddaughter, Lauren.  He is also survived by three brothers, Roger (Blanche) Larson of New London, Weldon (Beulah) Larson and Richard (Betty) Larson both of Willmar; one sister, Helen Johnson of Willmar; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-David Larson, and two sisters, Deloris Reek and Lorraine Larson.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville with Rev. Michael Ince officiating.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.  Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home of Waterville is handling arrangements.
