Donitza Kunelius

 

DONITZA M. "DEE" KUNELIUS, age 94 of Waterville, died on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born in St. Louis County, Minnesota on November 1, 1916 she was the daughter of Mason and Yovanka (Pejovich) Lumovich.  Dee graduated from Buhl High School, received a B.A. from Winona State University and earned her Master's Degree in art education from Mankato State University.  She married John E. Kunelius November 25, 1945 in Buhl, Minnesota.  Dee was involved her entire life in education.  She taught school in Columbia Heights a few years and then taught for many years at Franklin Junior High in Mankato.  Dee enjoyed gardening, playing cards, camping, traveling, golfing, painting Ukrainian eggs and holiday windows and spending time with friends.

Dee is survived by two sons, Don (Sue) Kunelius of Eagan and Jim (Mary) Kunelius of Waterville; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jason) Namyst, Sarah (Jon) Nelson, Leigh (Randy) King, John (Jayme) Kunelius and Dave Kunelius; four great grandchildren, Megan King, Andrew Kunelius, Mason King and Grant King; two sisters, Shauna (Al) Noice of San Diego, CA and Olga Greiser of Aberdeen, SD.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at North Waseca Lutheran Church in Waseca County with Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.  A private interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
