DELIA KRIENKE, age 98 of Waterville died on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.
Born on October 29, 1909 in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Charles and Martha (Mueller) Roeker. She was baptized on December 19, 1909 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. M.P. Wichman and confirmed on April 13, 1924 by Pastor Winter at the Janesville Lutheran Church. Delia graduated from Waldorf High School in 1927. She was united in marriage to Otto Krienke on November 16, 1933 at Freedom Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two sons and four daughters.
Delia and Otto farmed in the Janesville and Elysian areas for 45 years before moving into Waterville in 1978. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening for her family. Over the years she worked at numerous places including Birds Eye in Waseca, Backman Produce in Waterville and the turkey plang in Faribault. She later worked at the Faribault Regional Center before retirement. In her retirement, she was a volunteer driver for the MN Valley Action Council. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid as well as the North Side Club in Waterville.
She is survived by one son, Orville and his wife Lorna of Janesville; three daughters, Arlene O’Brien and fiancé Vern Helmen of Le Center, Janet Myrvold and husband Glenn of Wilder, and Robin Nagel and special friend Don De Groot of Waterville; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Edna Tesch and Mildred Martinson both of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Marie Roeker of Owatonna and Ione Roeker of Waldorf; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Otto, one son-Steven, one daughter-Caryl, two grandsons-Richard Roemhildt and Craig Gilbertson, three brothers, and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home of Waterville is handling arrangements. |
