MERLIN E. KRASSIN, age 88 of Waseca, died on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Born April 9, 1923 in Waseca County, Merlin was the son of Roy and Hazel (Joecks) Krassin. He attended Waseca County Rural School District #15. On May 28, 1954, he was married to Viola Edler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. As a child he began farming with his father and later took over the family farm and continued its operation until his retirement. He also worked with various corn shellers over the years, and he and his wife mowed the county fairgrounds for eleven years. Merlin enjoyed rug weaving, fixing things, welding, traveling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and farming. But more than any of these he dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Wilton where he was a part of the Men’s Club. Merlin is survived by his wife, Viola of Waseca; two children, Karen (Jeff) Miner of St. Paul, and Arlan (Kelly) Krassin of Waseca; four grandchildren, Kelly (Nicholas) Lanzatella, Joe (Sarah) Miner, Amber Krassin, and Brittany (Mahmoud) Mohamed; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Lanzatella and Amira Mohamed; and one brother, Harvey Krassin of rural Waseca. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Lowell Krassin; and one sister, Lois Wanous of Owatonna. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Wilton in Waseca County, with Rev. Glenn Korb officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements. |
