HERBERT LEONARD KOPISCHKE, age 91 of Waseca died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.

Born in Waseca County, Minnesota on June 7, 1916, he was the son of Henry and Bertha (Zart) Kopischke Sr. He married Gertrude M. Arndt on January 24, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.   Together they farmed until 1955 when they moved into Waseca.  Herbert worked at various places including Mahler Hardware where he retired in 1978 after 21 years.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, visiting relatives and friends and always lending a helping hand.  He also enjoyed refinishing and restoring furniture.  Herbert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Borgwardt of Mankato and Margie Arndt of Waseca; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and several half brothers and sisters.  

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 4-7 PM and continue on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Terry Quick officiating.  Burial will follow at the Alma City Cemetery.
