JOHN PATRICK KINNIRY, age 73 of Kilkenny died on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at his residence. Born on May 29, 1934 on the family farm in rural Waterville, John was the son of George and Catherine (Murphy) Kinniry. He attended rural Le Sueur County school, St. Canice Catholic school and graduated from Waterville High School in 1952. He was in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 serving in Korea for part of his enlistment. He married Barb Hamele June 11, 1958 at St. Canice Church in Kilkenny. Having farmed a while, he worked for thirty nine years with area farmers delivering bulk petroleum. John’s family was number one to him. In addition, he enjoyed doing woodworking for family and friends and was an all around handyman. Other interests include deer hunting, gardening, playing cards, horseshoes, softball, four wheeling, and bowling. He was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny and a life long and current member of both VFW Post #7905 and American Legion Post #380 in Kilkenny. John was currently serving as commander of the American Legion and was past commander of the VFW. He was also a current member of Kilkenny Horseshoe Club. John is survived by his wife, Barb of Kilkenny; one daughter, Maureen (Kalvin) Tegmeier of Jordan; four sons, Shawn and friend Dave Johnson of Minneapolis, Michael (Kara) Kinniry of Waterville, Timothy (Sandy) Kinniry of Waterville, and Ryan (Deb) Kinniry of Montgomery; ten grandchildren, two-step grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Catherine Eloda Perkins of Lakeville and Patricia (Marlin) Kritzer of Waterville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Monday, January 7, 2008 from 4-8 PM and continue on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny with Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny. |
