Leonard L. Ketchum

LEONARD L. KETCHUM, age 96 of Waseca died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

 

Born on March 23, 1914 in Madison, Wisconsin he was the son of Vernon and Ivabell (Turner) Ketchum.  He attended school in rural Waseca County.  Leonard married Pearl Mokoff on November 6, 1934 in Harmony.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1945.  Leonard worked as a mechanic at various places including Patten Service Station and Hasselquist Pontiac-Buick, where he also did auto body repair, retiring in 1975.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, camping, and spending winters in McAllen, Texas.  Leonard was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and the Waseca VFW for 61 years.

 

He is survived by one son, Melvin (Anna) Ketchum of Monument, CO; two daughters, Shirley (Phil) Keeley of Waseca and Delores (Jerry) Jellum of Waseca; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson-Mike Jellum , sisters-Seba Breen and Connie Ketchum, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norma (Walt) Broers and Henry (Ida) Mokoff.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the church.
